6) Do you prefer movies set in olden times or modern day? As shown in the results, it is clear that our audience would prefer to watch movies/trailers in a modern setting, 9 people out of the 14 we interviewed preferred the modern day films. This was because they could relate more closely to films based in a time frame similar to them which would make them more likely to watch and enjoy the film overall. Olden day films were less popular for the people we interviewed-possibly because it wasn't as relatable for the audience, therefore less impact from watching it and they could find them boring. However, 2 out of the 14 people we interviewed didn't mind when the movie was set, meaning both modern and olden day settings can be suitable for any audience, it just depends on their preferences. From our results we decided to base our trailer on a modern storyline, because the majority of our audiences seemed to prefer it and this would attract more people to watch it. |
10) Do you enjoy when trailers have cliffhangers? 12 out of the 14 respondents answered yes, they enjoy watching trailers with cliffhangers and because it was such a high result we will consider adding a cliffhanger to our trailer. The audience added that they like cliff hangers because it makes them to be curious into finding out more information and want to watch the film to find out what is happening. |

The money will be needed when the blackmail takes place and the transfer happens. Also to emphasize that he is a wealthy business man.
Calvin and Rebecca will drink champagne in the bedroom scene when they meet up alone.
|
These paper will be placed on the girls table, to show they are plotting something, and to imply they are prepared for scamming Calvin.
Calvin will be pouring a drink to calm him down from the stress of all the press people harassing him outside.
|
We could possibly be using a convict jumpsuit, if Calvin gets arrested under suspicion of abducting Rebecca / or fraud of the company. The vibrant orange will make it stand out and obvious in the trailer that something drastic has happened.
|
Throughout the trailer Calvin will be mostly dressed quite smartly, wearing a suit and tie as well as carrying a briefcase. This will emphasise the fact he takes care in his appearance and is the boss of the company. The suit will also represent the company Calvin owns is a very respectable and formal business, which requires workers to be smartly dressed and groomed beards and hair too.
|
Rebecca will also be wearing smart formal clothes, in office scenes too because she wants to fit in to the environment she is in even if it is out of her comfort zone (since she's used to being in relaxed clothing as she can't really afford much due to her and girlfriends financial state at the moment.) It also represents Calvins company too and emphasises the need to look good and dress well when working for him. |
Gone Girl-
Medium shot is where a character or characters are positioned in the middle of the screen where the setting is still visible and where you can see the characters from the waist up.This angle is usually used for dialogue sequences, and they allow the viewer to pick up on the character's movements and gestures and the shot remains close enough to capture that emotion. We took a lot of influence from the movie Gone Girl. We really liked this shot as the lighting is kept dark and includes a lot of shadows, which gives a sense of something hidden. In our teaser trailer we will be using a shot similar to this to imply some sort of danger and also as a cliffhanger. |
Walk Away From Love-
Establishing shots are usually the first shot of a new scene, and are used to show the audience where the action is taking place/the location of the scene. It is usually a wide or extreme wide shot. We would like to use the same shot and bright natural light of London at the start of our trailer to show where it is placed and where Calvin's office. |
Temptation-
Over the shoulder shot is a shot of someone or something taken from the perspective or camera angle from the shoulder of another person. This shot represents the characters view of someone or something at that moment. We want to use the exact shot from Calvin's and Rebecca's point of view during the interview to show each others facial expression during that moment. The lighting will be kept natural but brighter on the characters faces. |
The lighting will be changed depending on the day and the mood of the scene (for example when Calvin finds the letter /checks his email and realises he's being blackmailed. And also when he's attacking Rebecca, the lighting will be a lot darker and have shadows. However, in scenes where Calvin and Rebecca are flirting the light will be softened slightly and be a bit brighter than other scenes to create a more romantic and light atmosphere.) |
In the interrogation scene, the lighting will be quite dark around to represent secrets that he might have behind him but he will still have a light shining on his face to show he could be innocent. Also having this shadowed image creates some tension within the scene and makes the shot look more dramatic. |

We then started to attempt to find any other cover song that we think would work, we posted a draft version with this song. It turned out alright but we didn't think it fit right with the genre of the film so we will continue to look for something better and more suitable for our trailer. |
